Statistically it is well known that

1% of the total population of a country burns every year.

So in Bangladesh approximately
15, 00,000 men, women and children burns every year

10% of those i.e.150, 000 require hospitalization

10% of those hospitalized i.e. 15,000 suffer severe burns

For all those victims the country has only the 100 bedded Burn unit in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Because of poor facilities and resources more than 50% of those unfortunate victims who burns severely die

And those who survive suffer from disabling forms of post burn hypertrophic scars and contractures

Treatment of these scars and contractures is expensive and time consuming

And they are mostly poor and get no access to the treatment

They are ultimately forced to live with all these crippling scars and contractures the rest of their lives.

Their numbers are numerous. They are our relatives, our neighbors.

They need our help.
